Pepper Smith discovered a love
for storytelling at age eight, when a poem she had to write for
class morphed into a short story about a cat. At age nine, she
began a long writing partnership with a schoolmate, turning out
mystery and adventure stories for their own entertainment, and
writing science fiction on the side.
After writing for most of her
life, Pepper decided that writing could actually be the perfect
job for her and started a series of mystery/suspense novels centered
around an Arizona horsewoman and her unusual extended family in
both the US and Ireland. The first of these novels to be published
is “Blood Money,” a suspense novel set in Ireland
and on the volcanic island Stromboli in Italy. It is scheduled
for release in October 2005 from Whiskey Creek Press, and will
be followed in January 2006 by “Rio Star,” set in
Argentina, and in April 2006 by “Reef Runner,” set
in Australia. She is currently working on a novel set on the island
of Maui.
Pepper has been married to her
high school sweetheart for over twenty years, and they have a
teenage son. In addition to her writing, she occasionally works
as a professional photographer, is a licensed massage therapist,
and enjoys singing and playing a bit of Irish fiddle music
