Writing is an emotional process. Some days the words flow and some days I sit in front of the computer for hours and delete more than I write, but no matter the mood of the day I can’t help but put myself in that chair and type. I have always wanted to write a book, but raising a family, working and being a wife took my time and attention. When I turned fifty years old with my children grown and I was left alone I began to pursue my passion. I’m just an ordinary grandmother whose source of caffeine is diet coke and favorite food is chocolate. I like to bake and as I get older I find I enjoyed the process more when my children and grandchildren were standing on a chair helping me by breaking eggs to spill all over the floor and flour flying everywhere. Now that they are grown I buy more treats than I make, but I have many recipes I’m willing to share with anyone interested. Wisdom comes with age. I’ve heard that my entire life, but never took it seriously. Now I do believe it is true. So many things we concentrated on as young adults are so unimportant when you age and look at the grand scheme of things. The most important things I’ve learned is never to take anything or anyone for granted, never judge people before you have a chance to know them, and most important of all is to make sure you take time to smell the roses, as someone once said. Love your family and let them know it. Take time for the people you love and escape in the fantasy of a good book whenever you have a chance. I live in sunny Arizona and love the heat of summer and the mildness of winter. The only time I miss the snow of Illinois is on Christmas Eve. I cherish my children and grandchildren and am so terribly proud of each and every one. I have four books published with Whiskey
Creek Press: Amaya’s Keep, The Letter, Protecting Rena and The
Grant. It has been an entire year between my last book and my latest,
SOUL SAVERS, that is making its debut in March 2008, but I think you’ll
find it was worth waiting for. I love hearing what my readers think
of my stories and can be reached at donnasdesk@cox.net
or you can check out my website at www.donnasdesk.com
or just send me a note to say hi. I am pleased to answer all emails.
